If you would like to stop snoring you should stop smoking

Snoring is caused by vibration of the soft tissue at the back of the throat. (The uvula is a small piece of tissue visible in the back of the throat between the tonsils). Smoking tobacco, cigarette and other irritants are one of the worst habit which irritants and can cause increased nasal congestion and mucous in the throat area, which can lead to increased snoring.

When you stop smoking, you may experience symptoms of nicotine withdrawal that result from your body craving the nicotine it has become addicted to and is no longer getting. As long as you smoke, your brain and body maintain a steady blood level of nicotine. when that level goes down, you may feel withdrawal symptoms, but you still may experience strong urges to smoke, even months after stopping. But there are ways of coping with these symptoms.

Here are some helpful suggestions

Physical discomfort or depression:

  • talk to a support person – a counselor, someone who has gone through it before, or a friend who wants to help you quit
  • fitness and exercises – walk, bike, or run for at least 25 minutes

Sleeplessness:

  • reduce your caffeine intake
  • make your bedroom quiet and comfortable
  • do not eat, watch television, or discuss problems in bed
  • relax before going to bed
  • write down your worries and leave them in another room<
  • keep a regular bedtime routine

Irritability, frustration, anxiety, anger:

  • exercise regularly
  • try relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, tai chi, meditation or yoga
  • reduce your caffeine intake
  • avoid stressful situations as much as possible

Cravings to smoke:

  • try deep breathing
  • wait out the craving. They usually pass within five minutes
  • use distractions, go for a walk, chew some gum, or call a friend
